This one's about how some people find the best confort in dreams, when it could appear to be another's nightmare.

Broken Dream

Teetering on the edge,

Staring down,

At the crowded street below.

Everything appears so small,

From atop this glorious building,

But it will all come crashing down.

Warm hands fumbling,

Reaching for the cold guard rail,

Placing a foot off the edge.

Pulling back,

Wondering if this it what she wants,

If it’s going to get better.

No one notices,

The frightened girl,

Hanging on with no remorse.

It’s come down to this,

As she takes her hands,

Off of the cold metal.

Placing them at her sides,

She looks at the ground once more,

This is all she asked for.

Leaning forward,

Closing her eyes,

This is all she wanted.

Her new sanctuary,

As she opens her eyes,

And watches the windows go by.

It’s almost like flying,

It feels so real,

As she closes her eyes once more.

It seems to take forever,

As screams begin to fill her ears,

Her heart skips a beat.

Crystal blue eyes open at once,

Peering through the darkened room,

It was only a dream to her.

She was locked in her reality,

Broken away from her dreams,

The only things that ever gave her comfort.
